The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology is a comprehensive department offering an undergraduate degree in biochemistry with 11 different concentrations. The curriculum provides a strong background in science and prepares students for professional work and/or graduate study. The curriculum is well suited for students considering a medical degree. In fact, a recent survey of medical school faculty, residents, and medical students gauge the importance of topics to a students' success in the current medical school curriculum. The survey found that biochemistry ranked as the most important discipline compared to other natural science curriculum.

The department offers graduate study leading to the Master of Science in Agricultural Life Sciences with a concentration in Biochemistry, Entomology, or Plant Pathology; the Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology; and the Doctor of Philosophy in Life Sciences with a concentration in Biochemistry, Entomology, or Plant Pathology.
